Rover Scouts

Rovers

Scouting doesn’t stop at 18. Rovers is for young adults aged 18 to 25 who want adventure, good company and a way to give something back.

What happens at Rovers

A Rover Unit is run completely by its members. Rovers choose their own program, manage their own Unit and support each other through study, work and everything else that comes with being a young adult.

You don’t need to have been a Scout before. Plenty of people join Rovers for the first time at 18 or older, looking for new friends and something more interesting to do with their Thursday night.

Working towards the Baden-Powell Scout Award

The peak award in the Rover Section is the Baden-Powell Scout Award, named for Scouting’s founder. It’s earned through a self-directed program of adventure, service, leadership and personal development.

What Rovers get up to

Adventure

Four-wheel driving, hiking, snow trips, canyoning, road trips. If the Unit wants to do it, the Unit makes it happen.

Service

Rovers put a lot back into Scouting and the wider community, from running activities for younger Sections to supporting local events.

Social

Dinners, game nights and weekends away, plus Rover events that bring Units together from across the state and around the world.

Personal growth

Take on a project, learn to lead adults, pick up qualifications and set goals that matter to you.

Your first night

There’s no need for a uniform or any special gear to come and try Rovers. Just bring:

  • Yourself
  • Enclosed shoes
  • A few ideas about what you’d like to get out of Rovers

Let us know you’re coming so the leaders can look out for you and make sure it’s a good night to visit.
