Cub Scouts
Cubs
Curious, noisy and always up for a challenge. Cubs is where 8 to 11 year olds try new things, make great mates and start learning to look after themselves outdoors.
- Ages 8–11
- Wednesdays
- 7:00pm – 8:30pm
What happens at Cubs
A Cub night is fast, hands-on and never quite the same twice. One week it might be knots and campfire cooking, the next a science challenge, a wide game in the dark or planning the next camp.
Cubs work in small teams called Patrols, each with a mix of ages. Older Cubs get their first taste of leading, younger Cubs always have someone to learn from, and everybody gets a say in what the Unit does next.
Working towards the Grey Wolf Award
Everything a Cub does counts towards their own progress through the program. The peak award in the Cub Section is the Grey Wolf Award, earned through a mix of adventures, personal challenges and leading others.
What Cubs get up to
Outdoor adventure
Bushwalks, camps and nights under canvas, building real skills in bushcraft, camping, cycling and paddling one stage at a time.
Making and creating
Building, cooking, performing, coding and tinkering. Cubs follow their own interests through the program’s Special Interest Areas.
Helping out
Community projects and looking after the local environment, because being a Cub means doing your best for other people too.
Growing up
Packing your own bag, speaking up in a group and having a go at something scary. Small wins that add up to real confidence.
Your first night
There’s no need for a uniform or any special gear to come and try Cubs. Just bring:
- Comfortable clothes you can run around in
- Enclosed shoes
- A water bottle
- A parent or carer to say hello on the first night
Let us know you’re coming so the leaders can look out for you and make sure it’s a good night to visit.
